In Person Request

The Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk will close all of its offices to the public effective Monday, March 16 as a precautionary measure to help slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Real estate records for Los Angeles County are maintained in alphabetical indexes by name and year the document was recorded. Phone requests for index searches are not accepted.

What Records Are Available?

Real estate records from 1850 to the present are available at the Norwalk main office.

The Lancaster, LAX Courthouse and Van Nuys branch offices have records from 1992 to the present. Their real estate record services include:

  • Record documents (8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)
  • Accept requests (prior to 1991) and issue copies (1992 - present, to be mailed) (8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)

When Will I Receive My Copy?

If you visit the Norwalk office and request a copy of a real estate record in-person, the copy will be available the same day.
