Professional Photocopier Information - Individual

The Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk closed all offices to the public effective Monday, March 16 as a precautionary measure to help slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).  In the event your Professional Photocopier Registration expires March 1, 2020 – June 30, 2020 please complete the following steps:

  1. Please select the type of Professional Photocopier registration you are renewing, print out and complete your form entirely
  2. Mail in the completed form along with your payment and a color passport photo, picture of your valid ID, and the below requirements to:

  3. We will renew your registration and send you a temporary ID Card.Once we open you must make an appointment to get a replacement card that has your new photo and signature.

How to Apply

The Individual Certificate of Registration as Professional Photocopier application will be completed at one of our kiosks in the Norwalk main office. You can make an appointment by calling (800) 201-8999. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier to complete your application. Appointments are made: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, NO SAME DAY APPOINTMENTS.

The registrant must appear in person and meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a valid, government-issued picture identification (established by a birth certificate, such as a driver’s license or passport).
  • Possess a principal place of business or residential address located in the County of Los Angeles.
  • Present a bond in the amount of $5,000 naming the registrant as principal providing the term of the bond, two (2) years, commencement date and expiration date.
  • Pursuant to Business and Professions Code § 22454, the registrant must hold a current commission from the Secretary of State as a notary public in the State of California. Complete the Professional Photocopier Certificate of Registration Notary Authorization form and bring it to the office.
  • Note: An identification card will be issued at the time of registration.

Include the following information:

  1. Professional Photocopier name.
  2. Non-refundable search fee of $5 per name by check or money order payable to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. If a search reveals the exisence of a registration, a certified copy is $2 per document.
  3. Note: We will not accept E-Checks, temporary checks or foreign checks (with the exception of Canada and Mexico) for any Recorder/County Clerk services. If an E-Check, temporary or foreign check is received, the request will be rejected and sent back to the submitter requesting a new method of payment.

  4. Stamped, self addressed return envelope.

There is a $5 search fee in person if conducted by a deputy clerk. If a search reveals the existence of a registration, a certified copy is $2 per document.
